    I understand rinsing off the salt at the end. But wouldnt you technically be adding moisture back into the zucchini by rinsing it tho?

    Good grief - where to begin? Don't EVER place any food/plant with any level of acid (tomato) on aluminium and subject it to heat! DO remove the seeds FIRST! Oven-dry to tomatoes UNSEASONED! Leave the garlic and herbs [psst - add oregano and a bay leaf], salt and pepper for the jarring stage. You're welcome.

  • @iga279
    @iga279 Год назад

    Dried tomatoes lose about 80-90 %of their weight in the drying process. So out of a kilo of tomatoes you can get about 100-150 gram of dried tomatoes. Plus olive oil and spices, so $4 a jar sounds about right.

      Yes, mass-processed stuff is actually quite cheap, all things considered. And can you imagine running the oven for 8 hours? Not going to happen in this economy :-)

    The supermarket don't really sun dry them, they don't have time so they do same thing as well, feed them in a giant oven for about 8-12 hours. Then fool into believing they've sun dried them.

  • @newhorizonslifecoachcheers
    @newhorizonslifecoachcheers 3 года назад

    oven roasted and sundried tomatoes are not the same. The prep and process for each one is entirely different. Sun dried tomatoes are actually left off in the sun to dry out for a least 6 days preferably under a weight wire mess cover. Oven roasted can take up to 6 hours in the oven depending on the type of tomatoes and oven temp. Each one has a different flavor and texture.

    I mean the reason you buy them is because they're sun dried....If you have to leave your oven on for bloody 8 hours i think the electricity cost would dwarf the cost of a single jar hahah

    That is how I used to fill my bottles, but I had to waste a bag which was part of the reason I bought bottles or I had to wash bag and bottles. Now I bought small silicone bowls which you can squeeze to make a spout and pour right into the bottle. Love them.

    5lbs of roasted/dried tomatoes are not equal to 5lbs of fresh tomatoes. So 3.99$ worth of jar with dried tomatoes can be filled with your 5lbs of baked tomatoes for 5$ with ease

    • @thesolocreative3538

      I think she said sge was going to dry them after so you rise off the salt then you can press them with paper towel or something after to reduce the saltyness... thats just a guess. I would defs prep zucchini a while before cooking it after my trials today

    • @allysongurczynski
      @allysongurczynski 3 года назад

      I used to wonder that too but you would have to soak the zucchini for a long time in water for them to rehydrate to where they were before, so a quick rinse wont do any harm as long as you give them a pat down afterwards with a paper towel. 😊👍
